THE FORMATION OF THE MIDDLE CLASS AND ITS HISTORICAL-THEORETICAL BASIS

The middle class is the most important stratum in the socio-economic structure of modern society. This article broadly analyzes the formation process of the middle class, its historical roots and main theoretical approaches. The theories of classical and modern sociologists and economists such as A. Smith, K. Marx, M. Weber, P. Bourdieu, A. Giddens are studied. The development trends of the middle class in the context of Uzbekistan are also examined. Research results show that the middle class is the main driving force of social stability, economic growth and democratization processes.
