The increased requirements of modern production to the level of professional training of personnel, to an even greater extent than before, actualize the problems of vocational guidance of young people, since the professional intentions of a significant part of students often do not correspond to the needs of the national economy for personnel in a particular profession. Vocational guidance for young people is inherently not only and not so much a pedagogical problem. It would be more correct to call it a social problem, for the solution of which the efforts of teachers alone are clearly not enough. The essence of vocational guidance as a social problem is manifested in the need to overcome the contradiction between the objectively existing needs of society in a balanced structure of personnel and the inadequate subjective professional aspirations of young people.
