This article discusses issues related to the innovations in education in the 21st century. The purpose of this article is to summarize current changes in didactics for the use of innovations of teaching methods and to study the understanding of changes by teachers. The article examined four areas: the expansion of the subject of pedagogy, the ecological approach to learning, the digital generation and the ongoing changes, and innovation in learning. The theory of education, figuratively speaking, has two levels. At the macro level, in the relations “education-society”, decentralization and diversification, internationalization of education and the introduction of digital technologies are taking place. At the micro level in the “teacher – student” relationship, an active combination of traditional and innovative methods takes place, a combination of an activity approach with the approach of an energy-informational environment, cognition with constructivism and connectivism.
