Abstract

The article views the problems connected with the translation from English into Russian of cul­ture-bound information implied by the source text on the level of value orientations, judgments and mentality. Also studied are the ways culture conditions the specifics of transmission and perception of a text. the article focuses on different translation and mediation strategies to deal with cultural differences in translation (elimination or explication).
