This article discusses the issues of adaptation of orphans and children deprived of parental care in orphanages, children's camps and family orphanages, the formation of social competencies among pupils of family education centers. The article also provides a wide range of definitions of concepts such as “Competence” and “Social Competence” based on an analysis of the scientific literature, as well as an analysis of foreign works on social intelligence.
