ONGOING REFORMS TO IMPROVE THE SOCIAL PROTECTION SYSTEM IN UZBEKISTAN

Social protection is, in a broad sense, a set of legal, economic, social measures that ensure social and material protection of the country's population and are consolidated in society; and in a narrow sense, it is the care of the state and society for citizens who need help due to age, health, social status, or insufficient means of subsistence. Its main goal is to ensure a constant improvement in the well-being of the population, eliminate sharp differences between the population in terms of education, culture, professional qualifications and income, and help society ensure a decent standard of living and human development. The article, based on relevant information, provides a definition of the concept of “social protection”, priority areas, stages of social protection policy, achievements achieved and shortcomings identified in recent years, as well as the essence of the newly introduced social protection system.
