Abstract

This article provides information on the history, geographical distribution, morphology and varieties of the corn plant. Microelements, vitamins, biologically active substances contained in the plant, their quantity and the importance of these substances in the human body and their role in the metabolic process are shown. In folk medicine, it is shown which diseases and how it is used. In addition, information about the importance of corn in food, agriculture and chemical industry are given.
