Cytokine imbalance and its correlation with periodontal indices in endodontic-periodontal lesions

Abstract

The study revealed strong correlations (r=0,70-0,91) between proinflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α) and periodontal indices (PK r=0,793, PMA r=0,681), as well as antagonism with IL-4/IL-10 (r=-0,659 - -0,913) in 50 patients with generalized periodontitis. Cytokine imbalance confirms the role of biomarkers for predicting destruction.
