IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF PREVENTIVE NURSING CARE WHEN IMPLEMENTING A MEDICAL INFORMATION SYSTEM IN MEDICAL INSTITUTIONS PROVIDING PRIMARY MEDICAL CARE TO MILITARY PERSONNEL

Introduction. Evidence-based assessment of the impact of medical information systems (MIS) on preventive nursing care in military institutions is limited. Goal. To determine the effect of the introduction of IIAs on the quality of preventive nursing care for military personnel. Materials and methods. A comparative and analytical study was conducted on the basis of the Central Polyclinic of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the military hospital of Ferghana. The study included 320 military personnel: before the introduction of the IIA (n=162) and after the introduction (n=158). Additionally, 32 nurses and 220 patients were examined. The groups were comparable in age, length of service, unit profile, and service category (p>0.05). The statistical analysis was performed using the Student's t-test, the χ2 criterion, and the Spearman correlation; the significance level was p<0.05. Results. After the introduction of IIA, the coverage of medical examinations increased from 76.2% to 91.5% (p<0.01), the completeness of card filling increased from 68.4% to 89.7% (p<0.01), and the error rate decreased from 12.6% to 5.1% (p<0.01). The average card processing time decreased from 14.3±0.7 to 8.9±0.4 minutes (-37.8%; p<0.05). Nurses' satisfaction with working conditions increased from 3.5 to 4.6 points, and patients' satisfaction increased from 3.8 to 4.5 (p<0.05). A positive correlation r=0.42 (p<0.05) was found between the completeness of documentation and patient satisfaction. Conclusions. The implementation of IIA significantly improves key indicators of preventive nursing care in the military and justifies its scaling, subject to standardized training and quality monitoring.
