SURGICAL SOFT TISSUE INFECTION IN UZBEKISTAN: STATUS OF THE PROBLEM AND SOLUTIONS

Skin and soft tissue infections are the most common reason patients seek surgical care. In the United States, SSTIs account for 330,000 hospitalizations annually. According to expert estimates, this pathology is observed in approximately 700,000 patients in the Russian Federation annually. The diagnosis and treatment of SSTIs is complicated by immunodeficiency, particularly diabetes mellitus, where necrotic changes predominate. The clinical course is particularly severe, atypical, and has a high mortality rate, reaching 76%. This study analyzed the treatment outcomes of 7,113 patients with SSTIs treated in the Department of Purulent Surgery and Surgical Complications of Diabetes at the Tashkent Medical Academy Multidisciplinary Clinic from 2022 to 2024. Patients were divided into two groups: the first included those who developed surgical infection due to diabetes mellitus. The second included those who developed surgical infection without diabetes mellitus. A challenge in treating these patients was the lack of criteria for early clinical diagnosis of SSTIs, particularly in patients with diabetes mellitus. This leads to the development of advanced forms, inadequate surgical intervention, and inadequate local treatment.
