Rapid methods for predicting dental arch sizes in children, such as the Tanaka-Johnson and Moyers methods, rely on measuring the width of the incisors and canines to estimate the size of unerupted teeth, including canines and premolars. The Tanaka-Johnson method uses the width of the lower incisors for prediction, while the Moyers method requires measuring the width of the lower incisors to estimate the width of the future canines and premolars in combination with existing permanent teeth. These methods are a valuable tool for orthodontists, helping them plan treatment and predict potential bite problems even before all permanent teeth are fully eruption.
