Gender equality and international experience in the context of sustainable development: the convergence of language, politics, and social discourse

Аннотация

This scientific article is devoted to a comprehensive analysis of the problem of gender equality based on linguistic, discursive and institutional approaches, and aims to conduct a comparative study of the experience of Uzbekistan, the United States of America (USA) and Spain. The main idea of the study is that gender equality is formed and reproduced not only within the framework of regulatory legal acts and state policy, but also through language, stereotyped concepts and discourse circulatingin society. Therefore, in the article, along with official policies on gender equality, stereotyped expressions, proverbs and examples of social discourse found in everyday speech were analyzed in Uzbek, English and Spanish, through which important linguo-cultural markers were identified that reflect the existing views on women’s education, employment and social activity in society. The article is methodologically based on contextual-comparative, discursive-analytical, statistical and institutional approaches. The legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in particular the Law «On the Protection of Women from Harassment and Violence», the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 5), UNDP and UN country reports form the normative, legal and empirical basis of the study. At the same time, a comparative analysis is conducted with the legal and institutional mechanisms in the field of gender equality in the USA and Spain.
