Abstract

This article analyzes the formation of the mahalla institute during the years of independence, the improvement of its legal framework, and toponymic changes in the Jizzakh region. Based on archival data, the process of renaming place names that reflected Soviet ideology to names associated with national values and historical figures is highlighted. Furthermore, the article provides a statistical analysis of demographic dynamics, population density, urbanization processes, and changes in ethnic composition across the districts of the region.
