This article investigates the optimal conditions for the spectrophotometric determination of zinc ions using the reagent 4-(2-pyridylazo)-resorcinol (PAR). The optical density of the zinc–PAR complex was studied under various conditions, including wavelength (λ), solution pH, buffer composition, and the order of reagent addition. The results revealed that maximum absorbance is observed at λ=550 nm in an acetate buffer solution with pH=5.08, when the components are added in the following sequence: zinc – buffer – reagent – distilled water. These optimized conditions provide high sensitivity and accuracy in zinc determination. Furthermore, the proposed method is environmentally safe and can be recommended as a rapid and effective analytical tool in modern analytical chemistry.
