THE ROLE OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN ENSURING SUSTAINABLE GROWTH OF HUMAN CAPITAL

This article examines the role of higher education in ensuring the sustainable growth of human capital, which is regarded as a key resource for economic and social development. The author analyzes contemporary challenges, including digitalization, globalization, and increased competition, emphasizing the importance of investments in higher education to enhance labor productivity, foster innovation, and strengthen competitiveness on the international stage. The article discusses reforms in Uzbekistan’s higher education system, including the implementation of the National Education Development Program, the establishment of research centers, and the expansion of international cooperation. Special attention is given to the need for improving the quality of the educational process, developing cognitive skills and competencies, and adapting to labor market demands. The conclusions are based on international and national studies that demonstrate the relationship between quality higher education and sustainable socio-economic progress.
