Abstract

Hypothyroidism, characterized by a decrease in the functional activity of the thyroid gland, is a manifestation of one of the leading endocrine causes of recurrent miscarriage in women in the first trimester. The review article is devoted to the analysis of modern data on the pathophysiological mechanisms discussed on the basis of this pathological condition. Particular attention is paid to the effect of hypothyroxinemia on the processes of embryo implantation, the formation of the placental structure and the regulation of maternal immune tolerance. Key relationships are identified between disruption of thyroid homeostasis, changes in metabolism at the level of cells and tissues, as well as the development of systemic complications leading to termination of pregnancy.
