Abstract
Cushing's syndrome (CS, or Itsenko-Cushing syndrome, hypercriticism syndrome, Cushingoid) unites a group of diseases that develop as a result of long-term chronic exposure to the body of excess amounts of adrenal hormones, regardless of the reason that caused an increase in their levels in the blood. The pathogenesis of pathological changes in most organs and systems is primarily based on the overproduction of cortisol. The syndrome often develops with excessive use of synthetic glucocorticoids (GCs).
