Abstract
In engineering practice, problems frequently arise involving the analysis of groups of piles embedded in soil at different penetration depths. Particular attention is given to evaluating the influence of the surrounding soil medium on pile displacements and on the development of contact forces at the connections between the piles and the supporting beams. Observations of bridge structures subjected to external loads, especially seismic actions, show that the most severe damage usually occurs at the joints between the piles and the beams. This study investigates the vibration behavior of a rigid beam connected to two piles through elastic elements. The influence of stiffness coefficients on the amplitude–frequency response (AFR) of the beam vibrations is evaluated.
