Annotaciya
This study investigates hydraulic-jump processes occurring in the downstream pools (tailraces) of hydraulic structures and hydraulic complexes, together with the problems associated with dissipating excess flow kinetic energy. Based on the Froude criterion, changes in the parameters of the supercritical flow issuing from the structure and its effects on channel-bed stability are analyzed. Mathematical relationships are presented for classifying hydraulic jumps, determining the relationship between contracted and conjugate depths, and calculating the kinetic-energy dissipation coefficient. The results can support the efficient design of energy-dissipation structures, including stilling basins and downstream aprons.
