The article is devoted to the analysis of the use of a foreign language in intercultural communication and its influence on the formation of sociocultural competence along with linguistic competence. Particular attention is paid to the study of contact linguistics and the relationship of language competencies, including the phenomena of language contacts and interference, and their role in the communicative process. The work examines key aspects of the interaction of different cultures through language contacts, which contributes to a deep understanding of the mechanisms of intercultural communication and its impact on interpersonal interaction.
