ENHANCING TOURISM THROUGH INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT IN KARAKALPAKSTAN: A PATH TO SUSTAINABLE GROWTH

The article discusses the significant impact of infrastructure development on tourism growth in Karakalpakstan. Key improvements include the completion of the “Nukus — Urgench” highway, which reduced travel time and increased passenger traffic, and the renovation of Nukus Airport, which boosted flight numbers and tourist arrivals. The region has also seen a rise in hotel infrastructure, with new hotels and international chains attracting more tourists. Additionally, social and environmental initiatives, such as enhanced water supply and waste management, and the “Green Uzbekistan” program, have improved the region’s appeal. Comparative analysis with the Bukhara region highlights the positive influence of infrastructure on tourism, emphasizing the need for sustainable development to preserve natural and cultural resources. The article concludes that Karakalpakstan has the potential to become a key tourist destination in Uzbekistan.
