Cognitive-psycholinguistic characteristics of dialogic and monologic communication

Аннотация
This article explores psycholinguistic distinctions between dialogic and monologic forms of speech. The study focuses on mechanisms of speech perception and production as they depend on communicative context, and on the semantic and pragmatic processes that underlie verbal interaction. Dialogue is characterized by natural interactivity, dynamism, and the co-construction of meaning between participants, while monologue exhibits logical consistency, structural organization, and a high degree of preplanning. In dialogue, cognitive processes are supported by partner feedback, facial expression, and intonation; in monologue, the speaker independently controls the flow of thought, which imposes a greater cognitive load. The article interprets these differences through the interaction of language, thought, and communication psychology. The findings have theoretical and practical significance for cultivating speech culture, improving foreign-language pedagogy, and enhancing logopedic and corrective-speech practices.
