Abstract

The cognitive benefits of bilingualism and multilingualism are examined in this article, which emphasizes how using many languages improves a number of mental functions. According to research, multilingual people have better executive functioning, which includes better inhibition, task switching, and attention control. Additionally, because bilingualism exposes one to a variety of linguistic and cultural contexts, it strengthens working memory, increases creativity, and improves problem-solving abilities. The article also explores data that suggests bilingualism increases mental resilience, hence delaying age-related cognitive decline. Overall, the results highlight the substantial and enduring cognitive advantages of multilingualism that go far beyond communication.
