COMBINED MODE-LOCKING REGIME IN CR4+:YAG AND INTRACAVITY SECOND HARMONIC GENERATION OF PULSED ND: YAG LASER

This study focuses on obtaining stable and high-energy Q-switched mode-locked (QML) pulses in a high-energy, lamp-pumped Nd:YAG laser resonator. This was achieved by introducing a Cr4+:YAG saturable absorber into the resonator along with the Nonlinear Mirror NLM mechanism, thereby creating a dual-component passive modulator system. The synergistic interaction between the NLM and the saturable absorber was investigated as a function of the element’s initial transmission. When the Cr4+:YAG absorber with an initial transmission of T0=30% was used in conjunction with the LBO crystal, a stable QML regime was observed in the laser system. Conversely, the combination formed with Cr4+:YAG having a higher initial transmission showed a deterioration of stability. This identified combination provides a practical solution for obtaining high-quality QML pulses. Furthermore, it will serve for future use in high-energy ultra-short pulse systems through pulse selection and regenerative amplification.
