Abstract
Gossypol, a cotton cellulose derivative, like diclofenac sodium, inhibits the development of the inflammatory process in adjuvant-induced arthritis model in male white rats. The data of hematological studies and the level of C-reactive protein in the blood indicate a high pharmacological activity of gossypol, a derivative of cotton cellulose, which does not significantly differ from diclofenac sodium. It is believed that the restoration of the level of anti-inflammatory cytokines against the background of a acute decrease in pro-inflammatory cytokines has a great importance in the mechanism of the antiphlogogenic action of cotton cellulose derivative gossypol.
