THR WORLDVIEW ABOUT GYSTOGENESIS OF APUDOCYTES OF THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT (literature review)

The first information about the diffuse endocrine system was known to science a century and a half ago. In 1870, Heidenhein discovered that dogs have cells with specific properties that are part of the epithelium of the gastrointestinal tract. Later they were called enterochromoffin cells (EC-cells). At the same time, the types of these cells, the biologically active substances produced by them and the methods of their study became known to science. There are different views on the origin of the cells of the APUD system. We felt that this article should shed light on some aspects of these worldviews.
