CASE FROM PRACTICE: CONGENITAL ANOMALY OF OPTIC DISC EXCAVATION. «MORNING GLORY» SYNDROME

Аннотация
Purpose: to present a clinical case of a 13-year-old child with a rare anomaly of optic disc excavation - "morning glory" syndrome. Methods of investigation: standard ophthalmologic examination, MRI examination of the orbit and brain, detailed examination of the ocular fundus using retinophot and fundus-lens apparatus. Results obtained: The clinical picture and diagnostic methods necessary for the diagnosis of the syndrome are reflected, the classic ocular fundus picture is described in detail: funnel-shaped optic disc with whitish glial translucent tissue in the center, abnormal retinal vessels. The child received 2 courses of a special therapy program aimed at correction of amblyopia developed as a result of this syndrome and stimulation of the visual organ, helping to cope with congenital disorders. As a result, visual acuity increased from 0.01 to 0.02 with correction. The differential diagnosis of "morning glory" syndrome with optic nerve coloboma, peripapillary staphyloma was also considered. Conclusions. Active dynamic observation and repeated courses of pleoptic treatment with stimulating devices were recommended to the patient.
