WAYS TO REDUCE MATERNAL MORTALITY – POSTPARTUM SEPSIS

Abstract
Sepsis is a life–threatening organ dysfunction due to dysregulation of the host's response to infection. The mortality rate is 10%." In the same document, maternal sepsis is considered as "a life-threatening condition defined as organ dysfunction associated with infection during pregnancy, childbirth, post-abortion or postpartum period." Clinical symptoms include fever, pelvic pain, unpleasant-smelling vaginal discharge, and uterine subinvolution.
