Аннотация
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of MRI in assessing the parameters of Eustachian tube cartilage in chronic suppurative otitis media. The study was performed in 1.5 T MRI in 44 Eustachian tubes in patients with chronic suppurative otitis media. As a control group, data from MRI studies of 41 healthy ears were used. The length and thickness of the medial and lateral lamina of the tube cartilage were evaluated. Eustachian tube cartilage MR signal characteristics and margins were assessed in all images. The significant changes revealed in the thickness of the cartilage lateral lamina, and its MR signal characteristics on T2FS WI and PD WI (p<0.05). T2FS WI was the most informative on evaluation of signal characteristics of the Eustachian tube cartilage (p<0.05). In patients’ group, changes in some Eustachian tube cartilage parameters appear to be distinguishable from the healthy people.
