Abstract
This study investigates the clinical, audiological, and immunological characteristics of patients with sudden sensorineural hearing loss (SSNHL). A retrospective analysis was conducted on 83 hospitalized patients, affecting 84 ears, over a period from January 2014 to December 2022. The results indicate that SSNHL predominantly presents as unilateral hearing loss, with a higher occurrence in men and an average age of onset of 41.6 years. Immunological assessments revealed elevated IgE and IgM antibodies in 16 and 6 patients, respectively. Early treatment emerged as a key prognostic factor for hearing recovery, while tinnitus was also associated with positive outcomes. The findings suggest that viral infections and immune mechanisms may play a significant role in the pathogenesis of SSNHL.
