Abstract
Purpose: To study the morphological and functional characteristics of changes in the bronchial wall and lung tissue obtained during surgery due to bronchiectasis in children. Methods: 24 patients diagnosed with bronchiectasis were examined, in which fragments of bronchi and lung tissue were removed. The sections sent for histological examination were placed in a 10% neutralized formalin solution and frozen for 72 hours. It was washed with running water and dehydrated with alcohol and chloroform, and paraffin sections were made. Histological sections 5-6 microns thick were made from paraffin sections, paraffin was dissolved in xylene, then the sections were stained with hematoxylin and eosin, Van Gieson and Masson methods, and Alcian blue were used. The relative area occupied by tissue structures in the layers of the bronchial wall was carried out using the "multipoint test" system by G.G. Avtandilov. The statistical discussion was conducted on statistical analysis methods based on MS Office Excel 2007 and STATISTICA software for Windows 10. Pearson coefficient in normal distributions in correlation analysis; Results: The thickness of the epithelium in the mucous layer in large-caliber bronchi was 76.7 μm, in medium-caliber bronchi it was 60.7 μm, the thickness of the lamina propria of large-caliber bronchi was 24.2 μm, in medium-caliber bronchi it was 19.4 μm. The height of the submucosal layer of the large-caliber bronchi was 114.7 μm, and in the medium-caliber bronchi it was 89.6 μm. Compared to the results in the control group, the thickness of the mucus, lamina propria and submucosal layer of the large-caliber bronchi was found to be thicker by an average of 43.1 μm, and in the medium-caliber bronchi by 26.1 μm. Conclusion: Changes in the structure of the cells and lamina propria in the bronchial mucosa were profound in bronchiectasis, with metaplasia of goblet cells, hypertrophy and hyperplasia of goblet cells in the mucosa, along with their cystic expansion.
