HYGIENE ISSUES IN PREGNANT WOMEN IN THE CONTEXT OF UROLOGICAL DISEASES

Abstract
Objective To assess hygiene awareness among pregnant women with chronic urological conditions and outline preventive actions. Materials and Methods. An anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted at the Kattaqo‘rg‘on City Medical Association among 127 pregnant women presenting to obstetrics–gynecology services. Results. Mean age was 28.4 ± 5.6 years; age at first information on menstruation and intimate hygiene was 11.9 ± 1.6 years, with no significant between-group differences (p > 0.05). Information sources were predominantly informal: 79% from family/peers and 21% from healthcare professionals. Prior to pregnancy, 32% did not maintain regular hygienic care; ~60% were unaware of pregnancy-specific hygiene products. Notably, 74% expressed willingness to attend brief educational sessions and receive printed leaflets. Conclusions. Hygiene awareness during pregnancy is insufficient and the contribution of clinicians remains limited. Integrating structured hygiene education, personalized counseling, and take-home reminders into routine antenatal care may reduce the risk of urinary tract infections and related complications.
