Аннотация
Vasomotor rhinitis (VR) is a chronic disease that is not caused by an immunological reaction and is not associated with eosinophilia. Dilation and/or subtle hyperreactivity of the nasal cavity vessels develops under the influence of exogenous or endogenous factors that are not characteristic of it. According to recent foreign publications, about 25% of all rhinitis cases are diagnosed in adolescents and adults: 50 million people in Europe, 19 million in the US, and 450 million worldwide. VR is more common in patients over 50 years of age, and women are more affected than men. According to statistics, the ratio of allergic rhinitis to VR worldwide is 3:1. There are many known factors that can lead to an imbalance of local mediators (which belong to the adrenergic and cholinergic divisions of the nervous system, as well as mediators such as nitric oxide and histamine); as well as the direct effect of estrogen.
