Abstract

The article provides a comparative analysis of the peculiar mythopoetic interpretations of the plot of the cosmogonic myth about the appearance of the star Etagan (Big Dipper) in the folklore of the Uzbek, Turkmen, Mongol-Buryat peoples. It is scientifically substantiated that the ancient astral views of the peples of Central Asia, based on the concept of the Etagan stars as a symbol of noble forces, gave rise to various cosmogonis myths and legends in the oral folk art of the Turkic peoples.
