Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of geminate consonants, that is elongated consonants or paired consonants in the Turkmen language, which is one of the Turkic languages, their history, derivation, causes of occurrence, and features of use, as well as the reasons for expanding the scope of the use of elongated consonants in the modern history of the development of the Turkmen language.
