Abstract

Acculturation refers to the psychological and cultural adaptation that occurs in individuals, families and cultural groups when in contact with people of different cultural backgrounds. Acculturation describes the changes, cultural or psychological, that occur as a result of prolonged direct contact between two different cultures. Psychological acculturation describes the changes that occur at an individual psychological level.
