Abstract
The article provides information about the work of Abu Rayhan Beruni, «Relics from Ancient Peoples» and the etymology of the anthroponym Afrosiab. It scientifically analyzes the dictionary meanings of the anthroponym Afrosiab, the history of its origin, and the views of researchers regarding the name of this person.
