This scientific article is devoted to the study of artistic and aesthetic views of poetry and poetry in modern Uzbek literature. In it, the thoughts of the great figure of 20th century Uzbek poetry, Abdulla Oripov, on poetry are analyzed as much as possible. It is revealed through the poet’s verses that the criterion that decides the poem is not the idea, but the spirit. The pleasure of emotions in the work of Abdulla Oripov, the style of writing poetry, the unique aspects of the technique of a skilled poet, and his attitude to imitation are also covered. At the same time, the work of Alisher Navoi, Erkin Vahidov is referred to in some places in the study of the problem.
