The article analyzes scientific ideas about technical thinking and determines its place and importance in the professional activity of an engineer, analyzes the state of the specifics of technical thinking of students in the psychological and pedagogical theory and practice of specialties training technical engineers in the higher education system, generalizes and systematizes scientifically based methods for the development of technical thinking in accordance with structural and qualitative features, At the same time, the issues of the development of technical thinking of engineering students (land management and land cadastre) and the development of a mechanism for its implementation are highlighted.
