The article deals with the problems of ethnology in Uzbekistan, the attitude and approaches of Uzbek ethnologists to them. After 1991, the need arose to revise a number of theoretical issues in ethnology. One such issue is the topic of folk medicine, which was one of the more limited areas of study during the Soviet era. In particular, the question of «secret knowledge», which is an integral part of ethnomedicine, was completely limited due to its connection with religious worldviews. Despite the fact that Uzbekistan gained independence 32 years ago, the attitude of Uzbek ethnologists to this issue remains unchanged. In this article, you will learn why this issue remains open, but needs to be studied, and why.
