The theoretical foundations of motivation in railway transport are an important component of effective personnel management in this industry. Successful functioning of railway enterprises depends not only on technical modernization and optimization of processes, but also on the level of employee motivation. The article discusses the main theories of motivation applicable in the conditions of railway transport, such as Maslow's theory, Maslow's theory, and Vroom's expectancy theory. The author highlights the key factors influencing employee motivation in railway transport: working conditions, salary level, career opportunities, safety and stability of work. Special attention is paid to the specifics of work in this industry, which is characterized by high responsibility, strict regulations and the need to ensure uninterrupted train traffic
