Abstract
Pre-birth customs and the issue of childlessness are examined as traditional types of customs and rituals in the child life cycle. Young families adapt these traditions to modern realities, sometimes combining them with elements of urban culture. Various factors have led to the modification of these traditional rituals: rising levels of education among women; access to the internet and medical information; reduced influence of the older generation on decision-making, etc.
