HISTORICAL CITIES AND SISTER CITY PROGRAMS: THE CASE OF KHIVA

Abstract
This article analyzes the historical and cultural appearance of the ancient city of Khiva, as well as its relations with sister cities in the framework of international cooperation for urban development. The study examines the similarities between Khiva and its sister cities, the objectives of cooperation defined in the Memorandum, and the implemented cultural, tourism, and restoration projects. Special attention is given to the systematic implementation of activities through the sister city program and its impact on the development of the city.
