LINGUOCULTURAL ANALYSIS OF BRITISH FOLK TRADITIONS

This article analyzes British folk traditions from a linguocultural perspective. Using examples such as Wassailing, Plough Monday, Straw Bears, saint days, the Haxey Hood game, Burns Night, and Candlemas, the study explores the interconnection between culture, language, and cognition. These traditions are interpreted not only as historical heritage but also as a semiotic system expressing national identity. The article identifies the linguocultural content, symbolic elements, and conceptual foundations of each tradition.
