This article describes the concept and purpose of criminal punishment, the history of development, as well as the content and essence of punishment in the form of correctional labor, the purpose, conditions and procedure for the appointment of this type of punishment, as well as the specifics of punishment in the form of correctional labor, the rights and obligations of convicts to punishment in the form of correctional labor, the bodies executing this type of punishment and their legal status, organizations and institutions for the execution of this type of punishment, as well as control over the execution and circumstances that must be taken into account when calculating the terms of this type of punishment.
