HISTORICAL AND ECONOMIC ANALYSIS OF THE TRADE SYSTEM OF SAMARKAND CITY AND REGIONAL TRADE RELATIONS DURING THE PERIOD OF THE BUKHARA EMIRATE
Atamirzayeva, Munavvar
Abstract
The article provides a historical and economic analysis of the domestic and foreign trade system of Samarkand during the Bukhara Emirate, as well as its regional trade relations. The research results indicate that Samarkand centralized the trade flow within the emirate and actively established trade connections with Fergana, Khujand, Iran, Afghanistan, India, and Russia. While the domestic trade was developed through city markets, shops, and caravanserais, foreign trade routes contributed to economic benefits and strengthened regional relations. At the same time, factors such as weak administrative governance, irregular customs and taxation, and underdeveloped transport and communication infrastructure hindered the stable development of trade. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of Samarkand’s trade system and regional trade relations during the Bukhara Emirate and highlights the city’s economic and cultural heritage.
