Djurakulova, Gulnoza
Annotaciya
This article examines the epic traditions related to the horse image in the folklore of Turkic peoples from the perspectives of folkloristics, mythopoetics, semiotics, and comparative studies. In Turkic epics, the horse image appears not only as a means of transportation or a military companion but also as a spiritual partner of the hero, a symbol of power and social status, and an important component of cosmological beliefs. The study comparatively analyzes major Turkic epics such as “Alpomish,” “Gorogly,” “Manas,” “The Book of Dede Korkut”. Special attention is paid to the motifs of the horse’s birth, selection, naming, testing, spiritual connection with the hero, and ritual functions.
