Abstract
This article examines the representation of slang words actively used in mass media in English and Uzbek in bilingual dictionaries. The study analyzes how such words are defined, translated, and, in certain cases, explained through descriptive interpretation. Based on illustrative examples, the research demonstrates cases of full or partial equivalence of English media slang in Uzbek, as well as instances where no direct equivalents exist. The findings reveal a lack of consistency in the treatment of media slang in bilingual dictionaries and highlight delays in the inclusion of contemporary lexical items. The article substantiates the necessity of providing clear and accessible explanations when incorporating media slang into bilingual lexicographic sources.
