This article provides a systematic analysis of connectivism theory, which constitutes the philosophical and methodological foundation of the digital education paradigm. The paper identifies the specific shortcomings of classical learning theories—such as behaviorism, cognitivism, and constructivism—that emerged during the 19th and 20th centuries, and discusses how connectivism (G.Siemens, S.Downes, 2005) addresses and overcomes these limitations. Furthermore, the role of connectivism in the methodology of modern higher education and its integrative relationship with other pedagogical approaches are scientifically substantiated.
