THE ROLE OF HOLIDAYS IN PRESERVING ETHNOCULTURE AND NATIONAL IDENTITY

Abstract
The spiritual identity of each nation is expressed in its history, language, traditions, values, and cultural heritage. The sum of these factors constitutes ethnoculture. Ethnoculture is a complex cultural system embodying centuries-old life experiences, social relations, and spiritual views of a particular people. The processes of globalization occurring on a global scale have varying impacts on national cultures. On the one hand, cultural ties between peoples are expanding, while on the other, there is a risk of the disappearance of national characteristics. In such circumstances, preserving national identity, protecting ethnocultural heritage, and passing it on to future generations become important tasks. Holidays are of particular importance in this process. Based on this, the article analyzes the role of holidays in the formation and preservation of national identity, their importance in expressing ethnoculture and transmitting it from generation to generation. Holidays are viewed as an important sociocultural institution embodying the historical memory, national values, customs, and traditions of a people.
